A carer is someone, who without payment provides help and support to a parent, partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, substance misuse or disability.
There are thousands or carers in the area. In the 2011 Census 15,000 people in Halton reported that they had a caring role. Many juggle work, school or other commitments along with their caring role, and most don’t think of themselves as carers, nor realise the range of service available to help them.
Halton Carers Centre provides emotional and practical support for both Adult Carers and Young Carers from the age of 5, including holistic support for the whole family.
